You Could Soon Be Fined up to $15,000 for Sharing Memes

We have all been guilty of sharing memes on our timelines. Memes help add color to dull conversations and often put a smile on our faces. If passed, a bi-partisan bill is set to change this by imposing up to $30,000 for sharing protected material online.

Once the law is passed, creators will be able to sue anyone who posts images that they have not created or don’t have copyrights to. Needless to say, we will witness a volley of lawyers who will rake in moolah by suing unsuspected users.

The bill is titled “Copyright Alternative in Small Claims Enforcement Act of 2019” and is said to “creates a voluntary small claims board within the Copyright Office that will provide copyright owners with an alternative to the expensive process of bringing copyright claims, including infringement and misrepresentation …. in federal court.”

As expected the law will prove to be a treasure cove for copyright trolls and small businesses who might have shared copyrighted material unknowingly. The worst part is that perpetrators will not get a chance to appeal. The cap on the fine is set at $30000 which includes an individual cap of $15,000 per work infringed.

A petition against CASE Act is already doing rounds. The petition says,

Have you ever shared a meme that you didn’t make? Or downloaded a photo you saw on social media? If Congress has its way you could soon get slapped with a $15,000 fine by copyright trolls – with no chance of appeal – just for doing normal stuff on the internet.

In other words, sharing memes could cost you dearly and you might actually end up being fine $30,000. The bill is being pushed by photographers and other artists who want to expedite claims without having to approach the federal courts. It is also worth mentioning that the bill doesn’t detail the process related to enforcing the law.Sponsor ads:

How to Remove a Lost Device From Your iCloud Account in Find My

In iOS 13 and iPadOS, Apple has combined the Find My Friends and the Find My iPhone apps into a single app called "Find My." Find My works similarly to the apps it replaces. For example, just like Find MyiPhone, it allows you to put stolen, lost or misplaced Apple devices into Lost Mode.

Remotely turning on Lost Mode ensures that your passcode is required on the device, meaning no one but you can change its Find My status, or erase it without connecting it to a computer. And even if your iPhone is fully erased, the person who has it can't use it. Activation Lock (activated when you turn on Find My on a device where your Apple ID is logged in) stays on and there is no way to bypass it.

Of course, while the Lost Mode feature can increase your chances of retrieving your property, it can't guarantee that you'll ever see the lost device again.

If the worst does happen and you lose all hope of finding your Apple device, you can remove it from your iCloud account by following the steps below.

Launch the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.

Swipe up with your finger to reveal your list of devices.

Tap the lost device in the list – indicated by a padlock within the device's icon.

Swipe up to reveal the menu of device options.

Tap Remove This Device.

Tap Remove to confirm.

Find My is the most important feature to have turned on in the event a device is lost, but there are other key security options you should use, including a passcode and two-factor authentication.

With a passcode, no one can access personal data stored on your iPhone, and with two-factor authentication, your Apple ID will be safer from hacking attempts, something a thief or person with malicious intent might try to get access to on a stolen device to disable Activation Lock. How to Download iPadOS 13 Beta 3 on iPad

A Piece of Advice: Before rushing with the steps, do not forget to back up your iPad and secure all of your essential files. Unfortunate things do tend to catch us when we least expect them to. Therefore, I would strongly suggest you take the backup of your iPad.
How to Download and Install iPadOS Developer Beta 3 on iPad

As for compatibility, iPadOS has the support for iPad Mini 4 and later as well as all the iPad Pro models. Besides, you must ensure that your Mac is running macOS Catalina. That being said, let’s get on with the steps!

Step #1. To get going, head over to Apple developer page and download restore image for respective iPad model.

Step #2. Connect your iPad to your Mac and fire up Finder.

Step #3. Next, you have to click on the device icon at the upper left corner.

Step #4. Next up, press and hold the Option key and then click on “Restore iPad.”

Step #5. Up next, you need to choose the beta to restore the image and hit Open to start the process of installing it.

Now, wait for the restore image to install perfectly. Once it’s done, go through the basic activation process. After that, you are all set.

That’s done!

Over To You…

Even though the iPad always had top-notch hardware, it lacked a solid OS that could enable it to take on more capable laptops. But with the tech giant finally adding a more efficient operating system designed specifically for the tablet, things eventually appear to look better.

2019 iPhone 11 and iPhone XR CAD Renders Leak Again

Alleged CAD renders of the 2019 iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone XR has leaked online. The CAD renders once again confirm that the 2019 iPhone 11 lineup will feature triple rear cameras, with the iPhone XR featuring a dual-camera setup.

The notch on the 2019 iPhone series is also going to be of the same width as the one found on the iPhone X/XS series. Rumors do point to Apple using an upgraded TrueDepth sensor for improved Face ID performance.

Other details regarding the thickness of the devices are not a part of the leaked CAD renders. iPhone 11 CAD renders have already leaked before and the new ones don’t reveal anything new.

Plenty of leaks and renders have revealed almost everything about the 2019 iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. The highlight of the devices are going to be their improved camera setup, bigger batteries, and reverse wireless charging.

The addition of a third new camera on the 2019 iPhone 11 is rumored to be a 12MP ultra-wide angle. The iPhone XR is also gaining a second new camera lens but it is unclear if it is going to be an ultra-wide angle lens or a 2x optical zoom sensor.

Externally, the new iPhones are going to pack the same design as the iPhone X/XS series with only some minor changes. Apple is rumored to switch to a single frosted glass panel which should give these phones a fresh new look. The 2019 iPhone XR is also expected to come in two new colors.

Like every year, Apple will be unveiling the 2019 iPhone lineup in September this year.Sponsor ads:
